I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska with two accomplished artists as parents. They put pencils and paint brushes in my hands early on and exposed me to an environment of constant making. Along with a healthy love of comic books, I simultaneously developed a deep admiration for the likes of both Jack Kirby and Andrew Wyeth. As an adult I have built on those beginnings with some success in the fields of architecture and construction, though I am now actively working to return to my drawing and painting roots.

I think my strength lies in my ability to generate ideas, often through experimenting and taking risks in my work. I look for surprises and eagerly engage the accidents. I enjoy following the line I start to see where it leads, for my hand knows perhaps better than my head where we ought to go. I am attracted by the ironic, the surreal, and the often odd coexistence of the natural and the built worlds we live in.
